The Direct access scheme and Restricted access courses enable you to ride motorbikes over 125cc. There are various stages to the course, beginning with CBT and Theory tests, advancing on to the Module One and Module Two tests. Recent changes mean a more complex set of rules for under 24 year olds – please see our guide to the new test. We also provide a restricted access course for a 125cc licence.

How much does the DAS course cost?

Please see our pricing page for current prices, both courses include;  Test fees, CBT, Tuition and use of Bike, Helmet and Gloves.

CBT Training & Theory Test

CBT Training is included in the Direct Access Scheme (DAS) course and it is the first step you will take to gain your full licence. Once this has been completed you will need to pass a Theory Test. This is not included and must be booked with the DSA by you, or alternatively we can book this for you.

Module One

This is a 20 minute off-road test, covering extended slow control exercises (including a slow timed ride and U-turn), a 32mph emergency stop, a 20mph corner and a 32mph swerve.

Module Two

This is a 40 minute on-road test, during which the examiner will, in most cases, use a radio to give the candidate directions. There will be no emergency stop and U-turn.

At the beginning of the test the examiner will ask just one of ten possible combinations at the start of the test. These brief ‘Show Me/ Tell Me’ questions are about the controls and maintenance of the motorcycle.
